Pamela Margaux

Margaux & Company
Charlottesville, VA

Pamela Margaux, a native of Silver Springs MD, moved to Los Angeles in 1982.  Thru her experience as a waitress, bartender, and eventually restaurant manager, she developed a successful career in restaurant-ownership.

Her love affair with wine began in the late 80s, when she was first introduced to the small boutique wineries of Sonoma and Napa. It was a wonderful time in California, with the coming of age of the great wines of the region. Many of these estates are now world-renowned. She had the opportunity to see firsthand the trials and tribulations of these small wineries and vineyards, as they attempted to market their then-unknown wines.

Now captivated by the wine business, she started to learn about and enjoy the wines from the rest of the world as well.

One afternoon in a local Jazz Club, Pamela ordered a glass of Champagne.  The man sitting next to her slipped her his business card. « Claude Thibaut - Champagne Maker ».  Claude was visiting from France, working on a sparkling wine project with a local winery.  They were soon married, and left California for Charlottesville, VA.

Pamela now had the opportunity to develop her interest in the wine business further, through Claude’s network of fellow winemakers in France.  She started her Wine Import and Distribution Company in 2005, concentrating on small estate-owned Champagne from Verzenay France. Champagne Janisson & Fils was her first product of Import, and the portfolio soon grew to showcase small family-owned artisan winemakers from all regions of France. Her desire to introduce American consumers to family-owned, small-production vineyards soon led her to extend her reach beyond the borders of France.  The portfolio grew again in 2007 when Gabriele Rausse asked her to help with his Distribution of his Virginia Wines. Pamela realized that the Virginia wine industry was a market that she believed in and is honored to represent several other Virginia wineries including, Thibaut-Janisson, King Family Vintners, Pollak Vineyard, Cardinal Point, Bluestone Vineyard and Barren Ridge Vineyards. She has recently expanded her Portfolio to include Italian wines.

She loves to see the fascination that people have for wine and the sensibility, devotion and true passion that winemakers have for their craft.  She takes great pleasure in presenting a bottle of wine that is an expression of their labor of love, their heart and soul.

She loves to share her passion for and knowledge of wine with family and friends, and encourages everyone to simply enjoy the nectar of the fruit.
